Revolution: Dominion of the Damned by Jean Marie Bauhaus

Revolution Release Pushed Back to October 11

I’m sorry to announce yet another delay to the release of Revolution, the third and final book in the Dominion of the Damned trilogy.

What can I say, folks? I don’t have a good excuse, other than the same excuse everyone else has — this dadgum never-ending poop-storm of a year is just making it difficult to focus and get things done. I can’t stop goggling at all of the sheer madness going on and wondering if I should don a tinfoil hat to protect myself from 5G or chem trails or ‘shrooms in the water or whatever the Qanon-crowd are blaming for people’s total abandonment of reason and sanity long enough to sit down and write in anything other than the occasional short burst.

Also, I’m dealing with a very sick dog and losing a lot of sleep and tears over it.

Again, I’m sorry. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

But I won’t be able to reschedule this launch again — if I don’t meet this new deadline, Amazon will cancel publication, all of the pre-orders will be canceled, and I’ll have to set it up as an entirely new book. As it is, I’m now banned from offering any more pre-orders for a year. So, I have a lot of incentive to finally buckle down and finish this thing. And I’m getting close.

So. October 11. I’m pushing hard to get it out there. Watch this space for updates.

Revolution (Dominion of the Damned: Book Three)

The Dominion Trilogy got a new look — and you can pre-order Book Three!

Don’t you love a cover reveal? If so, you’re in luck — today I bring you THREE new covers!

For a long time, I’ve struggled with how to classify and market Dominion of the Damned, my post-apocalyptic thriller detailing a power struggle between humans and vampires in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. I’ve made several attempts over the years, but I think I missed the mark every time.

But I finally landed on a set of covers that I think communicates the right genre to the right audience. I’ll show them to you in a sec’, but first you should know that this rebranding also involved a title change. Dominion of the Damned is now the series title, and book one is now titled Desolation. Similarly, the second book, formerly titled Deliverance of the Damned, is now titled, simply, Evolution.

Here are the new covers for both those books:

And that brings us to Book Three. The title is Revolution, and it’s scheduled for release on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited on August 14th. And it’s available to pre-order.

Here’s the cover:

Revolution (Dominion of the Damned: Book Three)

Hopefully, this fourth cover rendition (number four for Book One, at any rate) is the charm.

Deliverance of the Damned

It’s Book Release Day for Deliverance of the Damned!

Deliverance of the DamnedIt’s finally here!

As you’re reading this, if you pre-ordered Deliverance of the Damned, it should already be waiting for you in your Kindle library.

If you’re new around here, or just haven’t been paying attention, Deliverance of the Damned is the oft-requested and long-awaited sequel to Dominion of the Damned and the second book in a planned trilogy (the third of which is already underway). And it’s out in the world today!

You can head here to buy a copy, or borrow it and read for free if you’re signed up to Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime.

I’ll post the book description below, but be warned that it contains spoilers for Dominion, which couldn’t be helped. If you haven’t yet read the first book and want to get in on this series from the beginning, head here to get Dominion of the Damned for the Kindle for only 99 cents (it’s also available in paperback and audio).

Don’t have a Kindle? No worries! You can head here to download a free Kindle app for your phone or computer and read Kindle books to your heart’s content (I actually prefer the Kindle app on my phone to my Kindle device). Not an e-book person? Hang tight — the paperback version of Deliverance is coming soon.

All right, enough housekeeping! On to the description!

Here’s the spoiler-free, tl;dr summary:

This second installment in the Trilogy of the Damned series continues the fast-paced thrill-ride through a post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland begun in Dominion of the Damned, in which the remaining humans find themselves imprisoned and ruled by a powerful race of vampires intent on the survival of their only food supply.

Here’s the full back cover copy:

“So what happens now?”

“Now? Now we go change the world.”

Alek Konstantin sounded so certain. But Hannah Jordan, changed forever by the events of Dominion of the Damned, doesn’t share his certainty.

No longer fully human, not quite fully vampire, Hannah hovers somewhere in between, something new, the next level of evolution that could save humanity and vampire-kind alike — or lead to their destruction, more assuredly than the zombie plague that started it all.

Within her veins lies both an antiserum against the plague and a cure for vampirism — and there are those who would fight and kill both to attain the cure and to destroy it. As they gather allies and assess their enemies, it’s impossible for Hannah and Alek to be sure which side anyone is on.

Hannah only knows one thing for certain — that her love for Alek, also altered by her blood, and for her infant brother Noah, means she’ll do whatever it takes to protect them, and to make the world habitable again, a safe place where she and Alek can raise Noah in peace — if they manage to survive.

There are causes worth dying for, and there are causes worth living for. Hannah finds herself caught between the two.

Order your copy of Deliverance of the Damned today.

And happy reading!

Books Leaving Kindle Unlimited in March

Back in December, I removed most of my indie titles from non-Amazon retailers and enrolled them in Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Prime Lending Library. That enrollment will end on March 4th, and I don’t plan to renew it.

That means, if you’re subscribed to Prime or KU, you’ve got until March 4th to borrow and read the following titles:

Eucha Falls

Fragments & Fancies

Midnight Snacks (this one is free for everyone through this Sunday, after which it goes back to free for KU subscribers and $4.99 for everyone else)

Sniny: A Clockwork Fairytale

Weather Witch

After March 4th, they’ll once again be available at all major e-book retailers!

Free for a Limited Time: Midnight Snacks

From now through Sunday, get the Kindle version of my horror collection, Midnight Snacks, absolutely free!

This collection of Twilight Zone-esque shorts includes flash fiction set in the Trilogy of the Damned universe, a short story that has been favorably compared to works by Richard Bachman (aka Stephen King), and fan favorite Eucha Falls, my creepy pasta-inspired novelette about the haunted site of an abandoned amusement park.

Click here to grab your copy before it returns to its regular retail price of $4.99!

Women's Work by Jean Marie Bauhaus

New Release: Women’s Work

Women's Work by Jean Marie Bauhaus

My first new release of 2019 is out and available pretty much everywhere e-books are sold!

Women’s Work is a short story duo featuring two tough heroines that have captured my imagination, and I hope they’ll also capture yours. Here’s the official description:

A woman’s work is never done, and rarely is it easy — a sentiment that’s keenly felt in these two quick tales of urban fantasy and horror from Jean Marie Bauhaus.

In The Box, retired monster slayer turned single mom Keely Brewster hides out in a small town where she hopes to raise her little girl in peace. But leaving her old life behind proves harder than expected when a mysterious package shows up on her front step.

In Night Driving, Mae always loved driving at night. But this particular drive might be one of the most important of her life. And for her violent husband, it might be the last.

Enjoy these haunting creations from the mind that brought you Eucha Falls, Midnight Snacks and the Restless Spirits series.

Midnight Snacks and Other Short Stories Now Available on Kindle Unlimited!

indie-titles

KU subscribers and Amazon Prime members rejoice! Or at least give each other a high five. All of my short indie fiction is now back home on KU. Grab them all here.

“But wait, Jean,” longtime readers might be thinking, “didn’t you just take them all out of KU at the start of this year?”

Yes. Yes I did. But now I’ve moved them back, for reasons. If you want to know those reasons, you can read all about them right here, along with what I eventually plan to do for the benefit of non-Kindle readers. The short version is that after a year-long experiment with global publishing, I feel like Amazon and KU is the best home for my short fiction, at least for the time being. Which means I plan to publish more shorter works there in the near future, so if you like shorter fiction, and especially if you happen to like MY shorter fiction, that’s a good thing! High fives all around!

“But I don’t have a Kindle / I’m not enrolled in KU!”

You don’t have to be left out — you can install the free Kindle app on your smartphone, tablet or PC and read Kindle books to your heart’s content (true fact: I gave my actual Kindle device to my husband because I like the smartphone app better). And if you’re not in KU, you can purchase these books at the regular retail price (or if you’re a Prime member you can borrow them from the Prime Lending Library). Also, like I mentioned in the other post linked up there, eventually I’ll collect all of my shorts into a paperback edition. More high fives!
