Self-Publishing for the Broke Author

On my Broke Author publication, I’m posting revised chapters of my 2018 book, Self-Publishing for the Broke Author, as well as sharing budget-friendly self-publishing and book marketing tips and resources for indie authors and publishers.

Spirit, Sword & Truth

Spirit, Sword & Truth is a Christian faith and theology publication aimed at encouraging women to study scripture, think critically and exercise discernment. Here I explore theology and Church history, false and questionable teaching, unbiblical traditions, popular social media teachings, conspiracy theories and truth claims, offering Biblical challenges that encourage my readers to be like the Bereans and test all things by the light of God’s word, arming themselves from deception with Bible literacy.

Missives from a 5-Acre Wood

Missives from a 5-Acre Wood functions as my personal blog. Here you’ll find updates on our homesteading journey as well as thoughts and ramblings on writing, creativity, ADHD and autism, my personal faith journey, and whatever else crosses my mind to write about that doesn’t already have a home elsewhere.

Through a Glass, Darkly

Through a Glass, Darkly

While this publication is mainly fiction, it’s also the home of my weekly newsletter, as well as the occasional non-fiction article relating to the paranormal.

Medium

While I no longer write there, you’ll find a number of articles ranging from writing and publishing advice, how to become a freelance writer, productivity, simple and slow living, and more.

BOOKS

Self-Publishing for the Broke Author (Revised Edition Coming Soon)

First published in 2018, this book is a guide to self-publishing and book marketing for indie authors on a tight budget. A second edition is currently in the works. From the original blurb:

How much money does it take to produce, publish and publicize a professional-quality book?

What if I showed you how it can be done with no money at all?

If you’ve got a DIY spirit and the willingness to put in your time, that is. But what if the thought of all that DIY makes you break out in hives?

Well, what if I show you cost-effective ways to get help producing your book on a shoestring budget?

Whether you’ve got a little money budgeted for self-publishing, or no money at all, help with editing, formatting and cover design are well within your grasp. And I’ll show you how.

I’ll also show you free and budget-friendly ways to build your author platform and turn it into a book marketing machine.

I’m a hybrid author with eight self-published books to my credit (and counting), all but one of which didn’t cost me a dime.

And in this book, I’ll share the methods, tools and resources I use to produce and publicize each of my books.

If you think you can’t afford to get started with self-publishing, Self-Publishing for the Broke Author is a must-read. It will give you all the tools you need to launch your first book and set your publishing career on course to reach the stratosphere.
